Safe Boating Certified!
This week, Harbor School’s 10th-grade Ocean Engineering students achieved an exciting milestone by earning their New York State Safe Boating Licenses. Under the guidance of their instructor, Rick Lee, these dedicated students embarked on this endeavor to enhance their hands-on learning experiences. With their newly acquired licenses, they will now be able to safely venture out on boats to test their remote-operated vehicles (ROVs), an essential part of their curriculum.
The students celebrated this achievement in style by taking the helm of the Virginia, steering the vessel near the iconic Statue of Liberty. Several Vessel Operations students joined them on this celebratory voyage and provided invaluable assistance with the boats.
This accomplishment not only highlights the hard work and dedication of our Ocean Engineering students but also showcases the collaborative spirit within our school community. Congratulations to all the students involved, and we look forward to seeing the exciting projects they will undertake with their newfound skills!
