MAPA Students Shape FiDi’s Future

MAPA Students Shape FiDi’s Future

MAPA students, now Waterfront Edge Design Guideline Associates, presented their assessment of the FiDi Resiliency Project to a distinguished audience. This included the Head of WEDG at the Waterfront Alliance, the Project Manager from the Economic Development Corporation, an architect and Cornell University professor on the design team, WEDG professionals, stakeholders in coastal resilience projects and a Netflix featured documentary filmmaker creating a project on the youth perspective of existential environmental threats like sea level rise.

The students evaluated the project through the lens of the Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines, considering factors like accessibility, ecology, and resilience. They discussed the project’s strengths, weaknesses, and potential obstacles, all while emphasizing the importance of balancing functionality with a serene waterfront experience.

Their presentation marked a significant milestone, coming just before the school year’s end. It serves as both a fitting conclusion to their work and a promising beginning for this 7 Billion Dollar project future.
